Sea Lions

The Sea lion is a mammal.

Their coat is brown but darker when wet. They have external earflaps and their flippers are quite huge.

They live off the coast of Southern California.

They eat mainly fish, squid, crabs and clams. They use their flippers to swim, paddle, and walk on land. They swim in large groups. The sea lion has a roaring sound from which it gets its name. They live for about 25 years. The male are 2m in length and female are smaller.

There is a law against killing sea lions in fishing nets. The sea lion looks like a seal.

I wonder if the sea lion can breathe underwater?
