On Wednesday the year 4, 5 and 6 students went to school swimming sports at the Municipal pools on Victoria St. It might be the last time we go because the pools might be closing. People have organized a petition to stop the closing, but we don’t know what will happen.
We all had a great time, the weather was perfect and everybody had a swim. The winners of the races are going to the Interschool Swimming competition on Monday to race against other schools.
On Sunday February 12th I did the Weet-Bix TRYathalon.
I had to wake up at 6:00am and only started at 10:30am.Me and josh from room 5 were having a race. I won too.
We started swimming. We had to swim 100 meters. It’s hard because people kick and push you. I was coming last until I ran past heaps of people. I got all my stuff on then biked away. Again passing heaps of people. Then I was on a hill, I biked all the way up it then came another hill. It was the steepest hill there. I biked about seven meters up the hill. Then walked up. Then there was down hill. I went so fast down it I nearly ran in to a lady. But I slowed down finally.
Me and Josh found where to put our bikes. Then took off our helmets then ran off to do our 2 and a half km run/2500 meters. I was close to the finish and Josh said see you later, but I passed him. It was like last year but no Josh. Also last year I was in the Hamilton city news with Alison Shanks.
On the last day of soccer my team, The Jets, got a big, big, big trophy it looks like this.
It is big for a trophy. We won it in 2011, but when I was looking at the people who won it a few years ago in 1984 The Ants won it. It’s a weird name for a team name. Man was I laughing. Darragh’s brother gave it to me and in two weeks I have to give it to Jacob. We won it because we got the most goals.
Last week Room 1 began learning about, maps, directions and position in maths. We used Google Maps to find our houses. Then we took a screenshot of our house and printed it out.
When everyone had a picture we went onto the AstroTurf. We imagined that the centre of the turf was Glenview School and that the end with the gate was North. Then we moved around and sat where we thought our houses were in relation to the school and each other. Lots of people lived close to school. A few people lived close to each other in the North. Darragh and Kate are nearly neighbours to the South East of school.
