Uranus

Uranus  is named after a greek god.  Uranus  was the son and mate of Gaia and the father of Saturn.

It was discovered by William Herschel on March 13th,7 1781. Uranus is covered in blue clouds. The clouds are made of methane and are difficult to see as they are low in the atmosphere.

Did you know that Uranus is the seventh planet  from the sun. It is the 3rd biggest planet  and it is an Ice Giant.  It has 12 rings and 27 moons.  

It is 51000 km in diameter and 2 877 000 000 km  from the sun.  Its day is 17 hours and 14 minutes long  and a year on Uranus lasts for 84 Earth years.
