Look at all these class blogs from around New Zealand, they’re awesome. Can you see any that you recognize? Read some of them and leave a comment if your parents say it’s ok.

This will probably be the last thing I put up for Room 11, you’re all going to new rooms and new teachers next year. Do me a favour; after a few weeks, when you’ve settled into your new class, ask your new teacher, “Do we have a class blog?” or “Can we have a class blog please?”. You know how kids say,

“Are we there yet?”
“Are we there yet?”
“Are we there yet?”

in that really annoying way? That’s how you should ask. You may find that you have a class blog, but if you don’t… asking, “Do we have a class blog yet?” once a day/a few times a week should be just annoying enough to get you one.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays and I’ll see you in February.

We had an idea to take a photo at 11 minutes and 11 seconds past 11 this morning. Trouble was that’s when we were due to have a whole school assembly on the netball courts. We did it anyway. We secretly took our signs to assembly. Mr Fawcett took his ladder steps and climbed up them to take the photo. When it was 11:11am he gave us the signal to lift up the signs and… Click!

Cupcake Card

We started back at school today after two weeks holiday. Term 4 already and only 7 weeks and 4 days before the summer holidays.

In Mr Fawcett’s cubby hole in the Staffroom he found an envelope from overseas. It had come by aeroplane because it had a sticker that said “BY AIRMAIL”. Inside was a card with a cupcake drawing on and… it had jewels glued on it. It was from a school in Northern Ireland, all the way on the other side of the world. We found Northern Ireland on our inflatable globe.

When we looked in the envelope there were more jewels! We think that they might have fallen off the cupcake card when it was on its way here. We’re going to glue them back on. You can just see in the picture that Lucas (front left) and Jaaron (front right) are holding some shiny jewels in their hands.

Now we’re going to make a cupcake card for them and post it all the way to Northern Ireland.

Nature by Numbers

Awesome geometry, Fibonacci and Golden Sections in nature.

We have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes in Room 11. We also looked at the patterns in numbers and times tables; and found the Fibonacci sequence. This video shows how some of the shapes and numbers appear in nature.

Team Energize

After morning tea today the Year 3s went to our new AstroTurf. We met three people that were part of Team Energize, Anton, Sarah and Dane

We went to play some games with Dane. Room 10 was with Sarah and Room 9 was with Anton.

We played games called Blast Off, Connect, Partner Tag and Numbers. We played all those games in about 40 minutes.

We had lots of fun playing games with Dane. At the end we were hot and thirsty.

Zoe’s Zebra

On Monday I went to my sister’s kindy. When it was playtime I built a wooden zebra. Its stripes are made out of material. Its legs can move and its neck can move too. Its tail is made out of fluffy strips. My friend Emma was there too.

Baby Sienna

Last year my mum was pregnant and this year she had a baby girl on May the 23rd. My mum had surgery. That means you get your tummy cut open. Your tummy hurts when you get your tummy cut open. My baby sister is called Sienna. Today she was wearing a bear suit.

My favourite toy is a Playmobil castle because it has a draw bridge and a jail and a secret passage wall. You could bring it on vacation because it has a red handle. My mum paid $5 at a garage sale. Then I had to do jobs to earn it. If you buy it on the internet it is $144.99. That’s a lot of money!

My Giant Carrot

I got this carrot from my mum’s brother in laws’s dad’s garden. They grew a small pumpkin and peas. My cousin Erin goes there with me. She took me around the house to the garden. She showed me the vegetables and fruit. Then she showed me the carrot. I said we could have it for dinner.
