Burma Trail

When we got to the Burma Trail it was icy cold.  I let go of the rope and fell on the bumpy and slippery ground.  I fell down ditches all the time.

When we got back to camp hot chocolate and biscuits were waiting for us.

At the Burma Trail

It was dim and dark at night.  I held on to the thick string, walking over the roots and through the trees, leaves crashing behind me, the wind slowly swishing on me.  It all happened at the Burma Trail.

The Climbing Tree

The tree is narrow, scratchy and tall.  I didn’t struggle to climb up the branches.  I felt thrilled that I got to the top.

Kayaking at Camp Karakariki

Kayaking at Camp

Kayaking at Camp

Way back in Term 1 we went to Camp Karakariki and went kayaking.  It was the Camp Rock Stars last activity of the day.

First we had to practice with our oar.  I was the first kid to get in the kayak.  I was in a single.

There was a tree stump in the middle of the water and we were only allowed up to there.

Then it was time to go, so we went back to camp and then we went on the playground.

Camp Karakariki

At camp my group was called CAMP ROCK!

We did lots of activities.  One of the activities was BMXing.  Mr Fawcett showed us how to go over the hills on a bike.  Then four people from CAMP ROCK got a BMX bike and one person went at a time.  Everyone had a few turns going around the track.

Soon we had to move onto shooting.  Shooting and archery were a lot of fun.

My favourite activity was the tree climb.  It was my favourite because it was my first time climbing a tree.

One of the camp parents had to hold onto a rope.  One person went up the tree at a time.  Everyone had a go.  Some of us made it to the top.  I did!

I had a fantastic time at camp.

The Rope up the Tree

The Rope up the Tree

On Thursday we played lots of games at camp.

One was climbing a tree. When I went swimming it was freezing in the pool. My favourite activity was climbing the tree because it’s fun and its really high.

When I went half way up and I said “I can’t do it.”
Then a parent said “Yes you can.”
So I kept on climbing to the top of the tree. So I screamed, “I GOT IT!” Then I went down the tree and I was amazed because I did it.

Camp Karakariki Animoto

I uploaded some photographs to Animoto, chose some music and pressed go.  This is what Animoto made for us.

Camp Karakariki

On the 2nd day of camp there were lots of activities.

Going really fast Down the Big Hill

Going really fast Down the Big Hill

I did BMX for my 3rd activity and it was my 2nd favourite activity.  Mr Fawcett took a photo of me when I went down the hill very fast.  I didn’t fall off the BMX.

The BMXs were easy for me, but I went pretty slow up the big hill.

Kayaking

Kayaking in the Muddy Water

At Camp my group was the SUPER STARS.

On Thursday at Camp Karakariki I went kayaking. First I got my togs on and got my towel. Then I walked to the kayaks through a gate. It took about five minutes. I was nervous because I thought that I was going to fall in. I was excited. I put on a lifejacket. Mrs Tooley gave me a paddle. We practiced rowing out of the water.  Then I got in the kayak with Mrs Tooley. I got wet, but I didn’t fall in.

I liked kayaking. It was fun.

Kayaking at Camp Karakariki

Last Wednesday I went to Camp Karakariki.

I went to kayaking with my group the ALL STARS. Mrs Tooley told us to get a paddle and find a space. Mrs Tooley showed us how to move the paddle.  Then we tried.  After that we got our life jacket on.

Then we got in the KAYAK.  I was a little wobbly in my kayak.  My dad in the rowboat helped me to stop wobbling in my kayak.  Then I got a lot better at it.

Then Mrs Tooley said to come in and Bria and Levi’s mum’s boat nearly sank.

Kayaking was fun.

Camp Karakariki Coming Up

The First Five Weeks

The First Five Weeks

Well, the first half of term one has flown by. We’ve had medals, swimming, The Chiefs, blogging, insects, music, singing, wizards, scorching heat and pouring rain. I wonder what the next half of the term will bring?

On Wednesday we leave for Camp Karakariki so I’m sure there will be some more photo’s to put up here at the weekend. Get your gear ready, pack your bags and get plenty of sleep – you’re going to need all your energy!
